Foster A Cat
Open your heart. Open your home.
At The Kitty Cottage, fostering saves lives. Every cat you foster makes space for us to rescue another in need. Whether it’s a scared kitten, a mama cat with newborns, or a senior looking for comfort, your home can be their safe haven.
Types of Fosters Needed
Bottle Babies - Neonatal kittens that need frequent feedings.
Weaned Kittens - Playful and growing, they need socialization and love.
Adult Cats - Often recovering from medical care or adjusting to indoor life.
Hospice or Special Needs Cats - Compassionate fosters give these cats dignity and love.
Why Foster?
Save Lives - We can only rescue as many cats as we have space for. You make that possible.
Short-term Commitment - Fostering can last a few weeks to a few months, its flexible.
Prepare Cats for Forever Homes - Fosters help socialize shy cats, build trust, and teach basic home life.
All Supplies Provided - We cover food, litter, medical care, and anything else you need.

Foster Application
FAQ’S
I filled out the Foster Application form, how long will it be until I get a response?
Thank you! We typically respond to foster applications within 1-3 business days. We are so excited to begin working with you!
Do I need to sign a foster contract?
Yes! We require all of our fosters to sign a contract. The form you have submitted gives us a better understanding of what you are looking for and which feline will be the best fit for your home. Upon our review, we will reach out to you with any additional questions we have. Once our screening process is complete, we will send the contract your way so your furry new friend can start getting comfortable in your home!
Can I choose which cat I want to foster?
Absolutely! No one knows your home quite like you, which is why we work together to gather all the information needed to make the best decision for the cats! Once your application is received, we will begin discussing which cats we think would love to share your home. It is your decision from there!
Can I go on vacation while fostering?
Of course! We do not expect you to put your life on hold. Just like we do for our pets, our fosters can find a cat-sitter for their foster cat if they would prefer for them to remain in their home for the duration of their trip. Our fosters may also choose to return the cat to us, so we can care for them until they return! Depending on the cat you choose to foster, we will sometimes require that the cat return to us for care during your trip. These fosters would include those of special needs cats and young kittens. We always have an open-line of communication with our fosters, so if you ever need anything from us, we are just a text away!
Can I introduce my foster cat to a family or friend’s cat?
To ensure the safety of our cats and those of family and friends, we require that all of our foster cats only interact with the approved animals in your home. This helps prevent any mishaps and the spread of illnesses! We appreciate that our fosters wish to enrich the lives of our cats and for the felines who do best with other cat-friends, we work hard to place them in foster homes that have those feline friends available!
